As I was greatly inspired by Mitch Miller's Dialectograms and the way they are able to convey so much information visually , I started to think about how I can take these techniques and incorporate and twist them into lending themselves within my work.
As I wanted mainly to bring across the different atmospheres and settings in which flowers are in across Norwich, I started to think of ways in which I can incorporate these elements into my work without have the letters standout. As I am really happy with the effect tracing paper have on my collages, I decided to take the answers from the numerous interviews I did on "Why people buy flowers" and stamped them on 2 sheets of paper to then be scanned and resized to fit my collages.
After scanning them in, I then proceed to place the quotes in where I felt were most effective , however I also felt that apart from just the quotes, If I layer my drawing as well, I will be able to communicate further the setting of that particular place.

As I thought more and more about the elements in which I am adding to my collages, I also felt that maybe , the stamped words are too formal and may suit best for only the answers given by the florists, and professional people therefore I decided to experiment with sewing and sewing snippets of the answers I got from friends and family in hopes of giving the answers a more sincere and delicate feel.

Thinking back to the notion of using my collages as a sort of map, I decided to revisit the florists my collages were inspired by via Google maps to see there locations and the similarities and differences between them. What kind of jumped at me the most were how all three florists were near the city centre and were all surrounded by shops whereas the plantation garden is based a bit further away from the centre and weren't surrounded by much else. This information then gave me the idea of maybe adding more emphemeras to the collages surrounding the florists and keep the collages on the Plantation Garden as simple and plain as possible.
