Group Tutorial

On Thursday we had a group tutorial and there I was able to present my latest idea on what I felt had the potential to be my final idea. It was really nice to be able to see how other people take on the same brief and it was really inspiring to be able to see the different ways in which people work. I was particularly happy with how at the end of each persons presentation, we were able to discuss ideas which in hind helped me with my own.

When presented my idea, I knew that what I had was only the basis and was lost to what I could add to it to improve it therefore I found the feedback session afterwords really helpful. During the conversation , I remembered Dialectograms by Mitch Miller and started to talk about the idea of using my collages as a background and maybe layer ephemeras and quotes gathered on top of it in order to bring across the Language of Flowers and how people, florists and customers perceive flowers in the modern day. I was also suggested that I attend a wedding and/or funeral in order to be able to gather material and really see the flowers in action. I really liked this idea as the sole reason why flowers are bought for funerals and weddings in the first place were because of how people perceive them. Therefore , if I have the chance to attend any of the occasions mentioned, I feel that collages from the occasion will add great depth to my existing ones.
I am really glad I went to the group tutorial as all my questions were all answered and any queries I had prior were all sorted out. The group tutorial also gave me a insight to a different point of view in which I was able to see through the eyes of someone looking at my work, not really knowing the full context of it. This in particular, was very helpful as people would point out if I wasn't being clear enough in my work which then will help me make things clearer.
