Experimenting with Composition

As I felt that I have now gathered enough second-hand collages, I wanted to start planning and experimenting with compassion to get a sense of what my final outcome may be. Taking my collages from both the plantation garden and from florists around Norwich, I decided to start experimenting with the way in which I place each page of collage. As I created these collages , I created them as a pair I therefore I do know that I want to place them together. However, I did do the collages on different collages therefore I decided to play around with the order in which I place the group of collages ( i.e. the collages inspired by the Plantation Garden go together ). At first, I wanted to place the collages inspired by the Plantation Garden first, as I felt that it was appropriate as I wanted to communicate a sort of timeline and therefore the Plantation Garden collages were perfect to put on the top row as it shows the life of the flowers and how they were grown before being sold to florists. However, thinking more about it , I didn't necessarily want my colleges to communicate the life of the flowers as much as the various atmospheres and settings in which the flowers are in around Norwich. With this idea in mind, I then decided to experiment with moving the collages around therefore when viewers look at these collages, they get a sense of a map from it.

In the end, I decided to go with the composition below as I felt that it best represents the locations of the florists around Norwich. I decided to place the collages inspired by the Plantation Garden last as the place itself was quite a ways further from other florists and therefore is only fitting if placed last.
