Interviewing the Creative Director at Harin Photo

I have decided that I wanted to look more into freelancing as I want to be able to work in a way that suits me and can travel around finding inspiration in between. Therefore, I decided to interview Palm Na Pombejra, the Creative Director at Harin Photo.

What made you go into freelancing

It's the flexibility of time and work that I decided to go freelancing.

money too is another factor. It's much more well paid in a single project.

What do you enjoy / not enjoy about freelancing ?

I enjoy doing different genres of creative projects because I get to learn new skills in every projects. Nothing to not enjoy really.

What skills do you need to go into freelancing?

You have to be very organised as it's a one-man operation. Marketing and social skills is also the key to connect with new clients.

What skills did you get from being a freelancer ?

Apart from creative skills, it's the management skills to work efficiently and to maintain quality.

What are your day to day duties ?

Work on current projects. check emails for new projects. If I don't have work then I rest and do my marketing. If there's a gap big enough from one project to another, I might travel.

What are the problems you encounter when freelancing and how did you overcome them ?

Big projects sometimes become overloaded for one person. I tend to split the work to my team or friends of freelancers to work more efficient while maintaining the quality.

How did you make connections with other artists within the creative industry ?

Through friends who works in the industry.

Do you think networking is important for freelancers ?

It's the most important! Without a good network, it's hard to expand your business.
