As a continuation of my question as to why someone would buy flowers, I decided to go around Norwich and ask the florists as to why they think people buy flowers.
I think people buy flowers to the ones they love as a way of saying that they are there for them , even when they not, the person receiving the flowers can still look at the flowers and think of them.
People often buy flowers for their loved ones so I think flowers are the simplest way to put those feelings into words. If the man is a little shy, a flower says it all.
I don't know really, I think with flowers around, the room looks a bit brighter and the day looks a bit clearer. Brings a sort of freshness to the room.
Flowers are a lot of times associated with a person so I think to buy flowers, that person is probably saying that " I am thinking of you" .
Everybody loves flowers !
I also decided to ask wedding venues and funeral planners as to why flowers are such popular in both occasions even though they are completely different from each other.
Flowers are usually tied to the person that passed away - so by having the flowers there, it's like the person is saying their final goodbye.
Flowers in a lot of ways means different things so when they are put together, they sort of symbolise a new beginning. White roses are very popular in weddings 'cause it just looks so pure and which girl doesn't want to look radiant on her big day !
All in all, even though the original meaning of flowers were not as wildly know or used as much as the Victorian Era, one thing that hasn't disappeared was the positive emotion flowers seem to convey.
