Playing with Paint ( Part 2 )

Because of how much I loved how my previous experiments turned out, I couldn't help but produce more. I have decided to go with a blue theme this time as I wanted to see how the difference in colour may or may not affect the final experiment. I used the same techniques as my previous experiment and so I won't be explaining it again on this post. However, I was much more liberal with using my palette knife this time and therefore ended up with a slightly different layout. I have also decided to forgo water colour paper and only used 120 gsm cartridge paper.

The thing I like most about this piece is how calm it looks in general but still maintain a very interesting look to it. My favourite section has to be the the section to the left as I really like how the dominant streak of paint leads your eyes to the sort of gated area. I also feel like with the bubble wrap marks next to it, the sort of squared off section almost appears structured like.

In this layout in particular, I felt that the marks left behind by dragging the palette knives across created a sort of a landscape at the bottom of the page which helped group the piece.
As I did with the last layout pieces, this is how these layout would look in another colour scheme. However, unlike the last two layouts, I decided to turn the saturation only partially as a lot of elements weren't visual when I turned the saturation down completely.
I really liked how the white paint transferred from the bubble wrap is quite prominent in both layouts and therefore this technique will certainly be one I will carry forward to include in my future experiments.
