Chad Wys, an artists from Illinois works with the examination of visuality: of images and objects, decorations and art and how the manifestations of the reproductions of these materials come to influence our everyday experiences.
I feel that his work is very inspiring to me as he is able to take old paintings and sculptures and transform them into statements by adding colour and marks on it.

This painting in particular, speaks volumes to me as the painting holds a level of uncertainty and mystery with the portrait's body full hidden behind the bars of colours. This idea is taken further more with the bars of colours located at the bottom of the frame similar to those appeared on glitchy television screens hint at information lost over time and with one of the bars, particularly the black one covering a very crucial part of the portrait- the mouth, the notion of mysteriousness and the idea of hidden truth is further pronounced.
