As I started to think more about what materials I can use to show how Anna over the period of this story became less and less human and more machine-like, I decided to go back and re-read the story to see if there were any significant objects within the text. Apart from the clothes she was wearing, not a lot of objects were associated with her within the story . I decided to move on to see if there were any objects period. As described in the story, Anna was an English major before she had a breakdown and became mentally ill. This led me to thinking that maybe a typewriter, an english literature book of some sort, or a student ID card may be suitable. Due to Anna not being the only character within this story, I also looked for any object that stood out to me overall.
'..as if drawing on water, he held first sheet of paper then the next up in front of her.., '..compulsively clicking a retractable Biro..' and '..sat erect on a plastic chair..'.

I wanted to dip objects in paint as I felt that when dried, the paint is such a bold solid colour so it appears as if the object has come to an abrupt stop or was forced to stop.
However, I didn't feel like any of these objects were powerful enough and the process was just too time consuming and elaborate for my given amount of time therefore I decided to experiment with the idea of concealing her identity by either concealing her eyes or only show parts of her face in photoshop.
I've also decided to digitally manipulate a picture of an iPad to create the effect of it being dipped in paint.

All in all, I prefer the digitally manipulated photographs more as I was able to add the clean cut, harsh white borders and solid colours more, which lends itself more efficiently to the cleanliness I wanted to achieve in my final outcomes. However the overall photograph loses it humane touch and therefore I've decided to physically create the effect of a framed photograph being dipped in paint.
