WHAT? SO WHAT? WHAT NOW? BRAINSTORM
Got introduced into printmaking
I felt very excited as I feel that print making will be able to allow me to produce my work and produce my work and experiment with composition in a relatively easy way
Very fun to be experimenting with the different types of print making and to e able to see the different style of work they produce
I didn’t feel like lino printing was for me as it the lines it produced was not as thin and fine as I would've preferred
Screen printing can produce exact copies in a very short time
Multiple colours, multiple compositions experimented easily
Allows you to mix your own colours, opacity and play with different ink finishing within your work
Get to experiment how different colours interact with one another
Colours can change when placed upon another colour
Finishing will change i.e. second coat of ink dries shinier
Some students preferred lino print over screen printing as lion print lends itself perfectly to work that are towards the more experimental side
It also allowed me to see how precise I need to be and I got to practise my practical skills and learn to be thorough with every step of the process
Showed me the importance of having to pay attention to every detail to avoid mishaps in the process
Print making showed me that I have to always try new things and maybe I might find a way of working that really works for me and allows me to bring my artwork to it’s full potential
Due to being a perfectionist, it was always hard for me to experiment and create thumbnails as I feel the need to complete every drawing I start
Screen printing allows me to create previews of my final work and experiment over and over again
Try and find other methods that work similarly to screen printing i.e MDF printing
I didn't devote enough time to my art practise ( paper engineering )
Made me struggle to meet up with deadlines
Had to take short cuts and leave details out in order to be able to finish on time
Shows me that certain/specific practises require more time than others to get used to
Introduced me into the world of paper engineering and what paper can do
Learnt about how the different weights of paper can alter the final artwork and how using a specific weight of paper may be better to work on rather than another
How different weights of paper react when stuck together and when put under pressure
You can never know how hard or easy an art practise is unless you try it out
I was trying to make sense of an art practise that I have no idea about under a very limited amount of time
It showed me how paper engineering allows me to make my work 3-dimensionally without having to compromise and still be able to maintain my sense of style even though my final work may be different from my previous work
I cannot depend on others to work as not all artists work at the same pace or in the same way as one another
Work at my own pace
Always allow a lot of time to figure out and get used to the way of working
Be more independent
For me to create one piece of work, I would have to spend more time than another student
Always allow time for experimenting and mistakes as they are bound to happen
Make/ set realistic goals every fortnight to ensure that I am working at a fast enough pace that ensures that I have enough time may anything happens
Learn and study more into paper engineering and experiment with various ways offering within paper engineering
